2022 Year In Review
Hello friends,
Thank you again for making 2022 the best year ever for LARPing in Color. This year our little team hit huge milestones bringing LINC to the place we dreamed of. The first milestone being our recognition as a 501(c)3 organization. This means contributions to LINC are now tax deductible and that we can pursue new strategies to further our mission. The next big milestone was the launch of NPEL [LINK]. We are so proud of launching our flagship mission and our current work behind the scenes making the world better one large at a time. Additionally we attended our first in-person convention with MomoCon 2022 [LINK] and our staff member Christopher Tang received our first grant with the Psi Upsilon Social Impact Fellowship.
With NPEL now an institution, you might be asking “What's next for LINC?” This year we held three workshops and produced a few blog posts. While our blog posts were not as productive as our first year, we are making some changes and recruiting new writers to make 2023 will be our biggest publishing year yet. We intend to expand activities and our mission and if you want early access to that check out our Patreon [LINK]. If you're interested in supporting us with a lump sum just consider sending a donation directly on our website, or keep an eye out for our second big fundraiser coming later this year. To keep in touch and hear about that, subscribe to our newsletter [LINK].
Expanding our mission means we need your help. We hope to visit more conventions going forward but found ourselves strained by our small staff. Keep an eye out early in the coming weeks to sign up to volunteer for LINC events. Additionally, we will need your help to know more about you. Right now the LARP Community is well known but not well understood. We plan on gathering information, data, statistics, and more about the LARPing Community as it stands right now. We also plan on making this a regular feature so we can see how the community evolves over the years and provide the best information for those who work in interactive media.
In addition to all of the amazing achievements 2022 was a tumultuous year for us on the inside. Multiple link staff members have moved and or started new jobs since January 1st. We hope this helps explain even if it doesn't excuse when we fell short of our goals. As founder of this organization, I am so grateful and proud to be working with such an amazing group of human beings and know that their talent led to the greatest year of LINC yet and an amazing future. Through your support we're able to deliver some of the best educational materials for a LARP out there and can’t wait to show you more of what’s coming.
LINC has always been a moonshot, an opportunity to set high expectations and lead a new generation of roleplayers into normalizing healthy, inclusive habits, and holding each other accountable for our biases. We’ve been met with challenges along the way, and through it all we have learned, grown, and shifted our expectations. We have every expectation that in 2023, we will break more ground and clear the path ahead for more people join us in making our hobbies more inclusive, more diverse, and more accessible for everyone. We hope you’ll join us in this ambitious endeavor, and can’t wait to share more with you soon.
